Had a good weekend out drinking?

If you have had a good hard weekend of drinking a little of the hard stuff maybe you might want to think about drinking some tea!

On top of eating bananas and drinking plenty of water or Gatorade, drinking certain teas can help your liver function thus helping to process the alcohol better and reduce the length of hang over time!!

At Teavana you can get a wide variety of teas to help you with all different organs and bodily functions. I am just going to give you a few different ones that are for liver.

Mate'Vana: A deliciously smooth herbal tea that is perfect for coffee lovers. It does contain caffeine, but many people have a different reaction to this stimulant since it is blended with the other natural xanthines found in Mate (theophylline and theobromine). Together they create energy without jitteriness or addictive tendencies. This tea is also a wonderful diet tea, since it curbs hunger. MateVana does contain nuts.
Mate teas are a cardiovascular aid, hunger suppressant, and mental and physical stimulant. Mate contains several different Xanthines, besides caffeine, which when blended create a different kind of energy, which will not cause jitters. Also includes some Rooibos tea, which is high in vitamins and minerals and contains antioxidants.

Cacao Mint Black: The ultimate after dinner tea! Comprised of black tea with rich hazelnut and cocoa pieces make this a chocolate-lovers delight. But the smooth minty undertone really sets it apart from other teas. Add our natural Rock Sugar and a splash of cream for a decadent treat! Studies show that black tea helps to lower cholesterol and reduce the cholesterol absorbed by the body after a fatty meal. It also gently stimulates the heart and circulatory system, keeping blood vessels soft. This helps to avoid heart disease and strokes. Finally, studies show that black tea helps to regulate your blood sugar and lower blood pressure. It contains 20% of the caffeine in a cup of coffee.

English Breakfast Tea:A flavorful and popular blend of full-leaf, high-grown Assam, Nilgiri, and Ceylon black teas. English breakfast blend is a perpetual morning-time companion to tea lovers everywhere. And the gentle caffeine content will help wake you up without making you as jittery as coffee. May assist in lowering cholesterol/Good for the Heart. Promotes healthy teeth, skin and bones.

Sencha green Tea: Sencha literally means 'steamed tea'. With a fresh vegetal taste, this favorite has a quality and flavor beyond the ordinary. Sencha is the everyday tea of Japan and is delicious anytime. The sweet green leaves are cylindrically shaped and dried following traditional Japanese techniques. A perfect choice for green tea lovers! This tea is an excellent source of antioxidants, particularly EGCG. Studies show that green tea may help boost your immune system, inhibit the growth of certain cancers, soothe the stomach and digestive system, regulate your blood sugar and lower your cholesterol. This tea contains 5-10% of the caffeine in a cup of coffee.

Just a few teas to help fight the hang over blues. These are, as everything else, not fool proof ways to prevent or rid your self of a hang over. The only way to prevent is to not drink at all. You want to remember to keep hydrated. If you are going to go out drinking I must ask you to drink wisely and don't drive if you have been drinking. No matter how much or how little. Please drink responsibly.

When the weather has you down, tea can lift you up!

Last week we had a few days of 60+ degree weather. I was happy, I was excited. I just got new shorts and a new summer dress, my fiance' had gotten me a new wrap type jacket. I am slowly getting set and ready for that wonderful season called summer. I was greatly depressed when I watched the news last night and they said that dreaded 4 letter word. $n*w! They also mentioned temperatures in the mid 30's to low 40's for most of the week. Nothing above 45 till NEXT week!!!

There goes all my excitement for sun and heat, iced teas while I get a tan. Shorts and tanks, flip-flops, bathing suits. All gone, except that one little dram of hope.... till I woke up from a mid afternoon doze off (I forgot to drink my Mate' this morning.) and look out the window. It was snowing. I was going to take the dog out for a walk, but he wont walk in snow, weather its barely a flurie or its coming down in shovel fulls. He hates snow more than I do.

Then I thought about how great it is to sip a nice hot steamy cup of <insert fave tea here> after you have been out on the cold. How great it is to sip that hot cup of tea watching the snow fall, and NOT going out in it. Then I thought about how each of my teas trigger a thought or memory that makes me smile. So I got my lazy buns out of my blankets and un-wrapped the dog, we went to the kitchen and made our selves a nice hot pot of Earl Grey. Yes, my dog and I sat on the couch watching Bizarre Foods, longing for summer but living blissfully in the sweet steam rising from our cups. Also don't forget the wonderful mood lifting herbs available in tea as well. It is mentally and medicinally helpful.

I would like to encourage you to also live in the sweet steam of your favorite blend. Share with me, and HaRRRy the tea drinking pooch what you are drinking today.
HaRRRy not wanting to get out of his blankets to make tea!

Earl Grey Creme

As I sit down to write this I am indeed enjoying a cup of this fine black tea. It is a very light bergamot and black blend with a suttle vanilla kiss. Enhanced with blue cornflowers it is a wonderfully light and lovely mid afternoon, early evening drink. I even added a little non-dairy creamer to it and lightly sweetened.

promotes healthy teeth skin and bones

Although this is a creamy tea is is non dairy

20% caffeine of equal amount coffee

best blended with snow peak downy tips, Swiss vervaine melange', and cacao mint black

$4.50 for 2oz (about 25-30 tea spoons)

1 teaspoon to 8oz of water brought to 195-205 degrees and steep for 2-3 minuets
